About Caldsted
Caldsted opened in 1965 with a mission of caring for those with limited resources in their retirement years. It was founded by Roland and Elsie Olmsted who chose the name Caldsted from their last name, Olmsted, and her maiden name, Caldwell. Caldsted is funded by the private foundation established by Mr. and Mrs. Olmsted.
Caldsted is not an assisted living facility. The fifty-three residents who live here are able to care for themselves and live independently. They are ambulatory and self-sufficient. Once a resident is unable to care for himself/herself and/or cannot ambulate to the dining room, he/she will be asked to make other arrangements for his/her care.
Our Mission
The mission of the Caldsted Foundation is to provide seniors housing with services in a gracious community that promotes independence for individuals with limited resources.
To Qualify
To qualify to live at Caldsted:
Residents must be at least age 65 at the time of admission.
Total assets held must be less than $400,000 ($400,000 for a couple), and yearly income must be less than $50,000 ($60,000 for a couple).
An entrance fee of $5,000 per person is due at the time of admission.
Thereafter
Thereafter, a monthly service fee of 35% of your gross social security income (with a minimum of $430 per month) is due per person and covers the following services:
Three meals a day (except no supper on Sundays and holidays)
Weekly housekeeping service
Utilities (electricity, gas and water); free Wi-Fi
Maintenance personnel on call for repairs
Limited transportation (Grocery store, shopping mall and beauty shop)
Laundry facilities available on each wing (at no additional charge)
